Catch the lights in the Borderland Kirkenes – with 3 overnight stays, Dec – March (KP02)

DAY 1:
Arrival and check inn at hotel in Kirkenes.
15.00 pick up at hotel ACTIVITY: Snowshoe panorama hike with private guide. Tour with our experienced local snowshoe guide. You will receive instruction and help with putting on the snowshoes. 10 min transfer to the panorama mountain near Kirkenes. We move to a viewpoint and take a short loop over the mountain. Short break with the opportunity to take great photos of Kirkenes.

DAY 2:
Breakfast.
10.00 pick up at hotel.
ACTIVITY: Pasvik sightseeing and tour to visitor centre Øvre Pasvik Nationalpark
A guided trip by buss to Pasvik valley and the border area. Tour in our minivan with a personal touch and a local guide. The valley is one of the last wilderness areas in Europe and known for its unique fauna and flora. You get both, a nice nature experience and information about the interesting history of this area right beside Russia. We follow the Pasvik river (border river to Russia) all the way to Svanvik. Visit at the National Park Visitor Centre, which provides information about fauna and flora and the brown bear information Center. Several stops along the way where you have good views of the river and to Russia

ACTIVITY: Northern light tour by bus
We drive on Northern light hunt in our bus. Our guide will tell you about exciting events in the region along the way. The route is not fixed as we seek out the best spots for the Northern Lights. These can vary from evening to evening. Normally we go to the Munkefjord in the west or more inlands to Storfjell viewpoint and Pasvik valley in the south. Photo stops along the way. 23.00 back at hotel

DAY 3:
Breakfast.
10.00 pick up at hotel. ACTIVITY: Feed a reindeer with a Sami family.
This tour takes us from Kirkenes to Finland, the land of the Sami people. We drive in our minivan along the beautiful Munkefjord (photo stop) and after about an hour’s drive we reach our destination in Finland: a Skolte Sami family that farms reindeer. The animals are fed once a day in the forest and you will share this experience with us today. We drive about 20 minutes by snowmobile into the Finnish winter forest to the feeding area. The herd will soon appear and you will become part of our team, help us with feeding and warm up in our Lavo tent. We serve coffee/tea by the fire. A traditional meal can be added to this tour: reindeer soup with bread +250 NOK per person.
14.00 back at hotel
20.00 pick up at hotel. ACTIVITY: Snowshoe evening tour and hunt for the lights.
Tour with our experienced local snowshoe guide. This evening tour gives you the fantastic opportunities to see Northern lights, thousands of stars and the beautiful sky. Our snowshoe tours are not difficult or very long, our goal is to get you out in the beautiful winterlandscape and catch the lights.
