More information about the tour

Neiden is a small strung-out and magnificent village west from Kirkenes. Here one can find an exciting cultural heritage with Neiden church, the orthodox St. George’s chapel and the Skolt Sami Museum as main attractions. Journey by buss from Kirkenes to Neiden (40 km) along the Munkefjord. A fascinating fjord landscape and a lively birdlife on the shore. In Neiden we pass the orthodox St. George’s chapel, established in 1565. We take a photo stop at the waterfall Skoltefossen and visit the Neiden church (if open). Tour includes a 45 min visit at the Skolt Sami Museum (open in 2016). The main aspect of the museum are: Skolt Sami culture, language and identity, as well as disseminate knowledge of Skolt Sami past and present. Before we go back to Kirkenes we take a short trip to the Norwegian-Finnish borderline. We recommend to book a local lunch at “Neiden Fjellstue”. This tour is a bus sightseeing with local guide.
